Tom Falconer Bio

by Cara Barrett on August 5, 2011

Tom Falconer went to Newcastle upon Tyne in 1965 to study architecture at the University. While still a student, he bought his first Corvette, a 1966 327/350 convertible, from Eric Burdon of The Animals rock band.

Tom started Claremont in 1977, buying and selling Corvettes and Corvette parts from the historic Chimney Mill Windmill in Claremont Road Newcastle from which the firm takes its name. Tom now lives near Brands Hatch Circuit in Kent and as an ardent opponent of commuting by car, cycles to work on one of his racing pedal cycles or his full suspension Moulton – “Cars and roads have been hijacked by commuters who mostly don’t even enjoy driving”. He has owned more than 700 Corvettes since 1970.

Tom has written ten books about Corvettes, and contributed monthly columns to Corvette Fever in the USA and currently to Classic American Magazine  in the UK.
